The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a power outage affecting parts of the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa State following a technical fault on a facility operated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

The company disclosed this in a notice shared on its Facebook page on Wednesday.

According to AEDC, the disruption was caused by a fault on the TCN 132kV Apo–Karu Line 1, which led to a temporary interruption of bulk electricity supply to several communities.

The affected areas include Karu, Nyanya, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi, Mararaba, Ado, New Nyanya, New Karu, Uke, Masaka, Auta Balaifi, Keffi, Nasarawa Toto, Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon, and surrounding locations.

However, the company assured residents that efforts were already underway to restore electricity supply.

AEDC stated that technical teams from the Transmission Company of Nigeria were working to fix the fault, with power expected to be restored around 3:00 p.m. on June 10, 2026.

It expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and thanked customers for their patience and understanding.

The outage comes amid Nigeria’s persistent electricity challenges, where national demand continues to exceed available supply.

AEDC, one of the country’s electricity distribution companies, serves the Federal Capital Territory as well as parts of Nasarawa, Niger, and Kogi States.
