BUNI APPOINTS YERIMA IBN MAHMUD AS NEW EMIR OF NGAZARGAMU

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the appointment of Alhaji Yerima Ibn Mahmud as the new Emir of Ngazargamu.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Friday by the Acting Secretary to the State Government, Mohammed Goje.

Mahmud succeeds the late Emir, Alhaji Tijjani Ibn Saleh Geidam, who recently died in Egypt after a prolonged illness. He was laid to rest in Damaturu on Friday.

Before his elevation to the throne, the new Emir served as Turakin Ngazargamu for 16 years. He also had a distinguished public service career, including a stint as a member of the Yobe State House of Assembly, as well as serving in the State Executive Council and as Commissioner for Livestock Development.

Congratulating the new monarch and the Ngazargamu Emirate, Governor Buni urged him to draw on his extensive experience to foster unity, strengthen peace, promote harmonious coexistence, and contribute to economic development within the emirate, Yobe State, and the country at large.

The governor further appealed to residents of the emirate to support the new Emir in carrying out his responsibilities effectively, with a view to advancing peace, unity, and prosperity across the domain.
