BUTCHER ARRESTED FOR STABBING CUSTOMER OVER MEAT PRICE IN ABIA

A butcher, Emeka John, has been arrested by the Abia State Police Command for allegedly stabbing a customer in the neck during a dispute over the price of meat at a market in Umuahia.

HOTJIST gathered on Monday that the suspect allegedly attacked the victim with a pair of scissors during the altercation at the Orie Ugba market on Saturday.

Confirming the incident in a telephone interview, the police spokesperson, Maureen Chinaka, said the suspect had been arrested and detained.

She added that an investigation into the incident was ongoing.

“The incident happened on Saturday, and officers from the Central Police Station in Umuahia have visited the crime scene. The suspect has been apprehended and is currently in our custody as investigations continue,” Chinaka said.

She further disclosed that operatives from the Central Police Station visited the scene at Orie Ugba Market, adding that the victim was rushed to the hospital and is responding to treatment.
