Arise Television’s The Morning Show anchor, Rufai Oseni, has cautioned Nigerians against assuming that the outcome of the 2026 Osun State governorship election will be repeated in the 2027 general elections.

Oseni urged Nigerians to recognise the potential risks surrounding the 2027 elections and prepare for the challenges ahead. He warned that the federal might deployed during the Osun election could be used on a much larger scale in 2027.

Speaking on Monday, Oseni said his warnings ahead of the Osun election were not intended to frighten voters but to help them understand the potential dangers and respond appropriately.

He said Nigerians should not be complacent because of the outcome recorded in Osun, stressing that the circumstances surrounding the 2027 elections would be significantly different.

According to him, the security and political machinery deployed during the Osun election could be intensified in 2027, as those involved would have the opportunity to review their strategies and improve on them.

Oseni said, “If you think because Osun people stood up, it will be easy in 2027, you are foolish. You are delusional.”

He added, “2027 is going to be different from Osun. The federal might that they used and couldn’t execute, they will use it three times over. They will go back to the drawing board and try to perfect it.”

He maintained that voters needed to be properly informed about the risks surrounding elections rather than have such concerns downplayed.

The media reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party the winner of the Osun governorship election on Sunday.
