The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Ebonyi State, Dr Ifeanyi Odii, has pledged to transform the state’s healthcare, education and agricultural sectors if elected governor in the 2027 election.
Odii made the pledge while addressing party members at a meeting in Abakaliki on Thursday, where he called for more inclusive governance and greater participation of citizens in the affairs of the state.
The PDP candidate said his campaign would focus on issues and policies, stressing that Ebonyi needed a new direction to overcome its development challenges.
He urged party members to work towards rescuing the state through peaceful and constructive political engagement, while rejecting violence, intimidation and harassment during the campaign.
Odii said his administration, if elected, would prioritise the welfare of young people and create opportunities capable of improving their livelihoods.
He also criticised what he described as the use of poverty and hunger to influence young people into political thuggery and electoral malpractice, calling instead for policies that would empower youths and provide sustainable opportunities.
According to him, his blueprint, titled “A Promise of Possibility,” is focused on transforming Ebonyi into an inclusive, industrialised and investment-driven economy.
He said the plan would prioritise accountable governance, infrastructure, quality education, accessible healthcare, productive agriculture, thriving businesses and social justice.
Odii added that his administration would seek to lift residents out of poverty while creating an environment where citizens and communities could participate meaningfully in the state’s development.
The PDP candidate also appealed to supporters to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the campaign, saying no political ambition was worth the life of any citizen.
He maintained that the people of Ebonyi should have a greater say in determining how the state is governed and urged residents to embrace the opportunity to demand change through the electoral process.
