ENTERTAINMENT ACTOR SAKA: “MY MARRIAGE WAS DELAYED BY MONEY AND A LACK OF SELF CONFIDENCE”

Saka, a well-known Nigerian actor, has disclosed the reason behind the delay in his marriage. The actor revealed this in a recent interview with a media personality.
The actor, who also teaches theater arts at Lagos State University of Education, talked about his profession and personal life, stating that he married at the age of forty.
Saka made the observation, “I am now paying school fees with grey hair,” while attributing his delayed marriage to a lack of funds and confidence.
“My confidence is lacking. I am a rather private individual. Two factors contributed to my late marriage: my career and myself.
At the time, there was little funding for the theater arts, and artists were not acknowledged. We were merely acting out of passion. The worst thing abot it was that we were only taught how to perform and not how to profit from the theater. When I was done, I had nothing—not even a car.
Naturally, a female would look at you as if you had no future when you called her. In fact, a woman informed me that I was wasting my life and suggested that I leave the theater and find something more worthwhile. “The woman I was meant to marry insisted that I own two cars before we could tie the knot. Then I had a feeling that this was not my wife.
In the end, Saka married Olaide Oyetoro in 2003. They are fortunate to have three kids.
