ENUGU KIDNAP VICTIMS RESCUED IN OPERATION BY NIGERIAN ARMY

Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 82 Division Garrison, operating under Operation Eastern Sanity, have successfully rescued 12 people kidnapped from Ette Community in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.
According to a statement by the Nigerian Army, the rescue operation took place on Friday, March 6, 2026, following a distress call reporting that several residents had been abducted by suspected kidnappers.
The troops promptly responded to the alert, coordinating closely with police officers, forest guards, and members of the local Neighbourhood Watch. Together, the security team moved to the location where the victims were believed to have been held.

Upon arrival, the troops conducted intensive search operations and combat patrols across the area to locate the kidnappers and secure the safe release of the victims. Confronted with the troops’ rapid response and strong combat readiness, the kidnappers abandoned the victims and fled.
“The troops immediately pursued the fleeing suspects while securing the area. Aggressive search and fighting patrols were carried out to track down the kidnappers and ensure the victims’ safety,” the statement said.
All 12 victims were rescued unharmed, and two suspects believed to be linked to the kidnapping were arrested. The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to help authorities identify and apprehend other members of the criminal gang.
“During the operation, all 12 kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unharmed. Two suspects connected to the abduction were arrested and are being interrogated to track down other gang members,” the statement added.
