FADAHUNSI CONGRATULATES ADELEKE, SEEKS COLLABORATION FOR OSUN DEVELOPMENT

Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the August 15 governorship election.

Fadahunsi, in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Friday, called for cooperation between himself, the governor and other stakeholders to promote peace, development and prosperity across the state.

The senator also prayed for Adeleke to build on the achievements recorded during his first term and deliver greater dividends of democracy to the people, particularly residents of Osun East.

He said, “Permit me to use this medium formally, on behalf of myself, political family, associates, and the good people of Osun East Senatorial District, to heartily congratulate Your Excellency, Distinguished Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, on your well-deserved re-election as Governor of Osun State.

“Your Excellency, having won the confidence and electoral franchise of the people for a second term, I pray that God Almighty will grant you the wisdom, strength, and grace to surpass your achievements.

“I also pray that you will consolidate the gains of your first term and deliver even more dividends of democracy to our people, especially my senatorial district.

“Please accept my assurances of support, collaboration, and partnership as we—you, me, and other stakeholders—work together for the peace, progress, and prosperity of our dear state.”

Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord, secured 511,067 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.

The governor won in 19 of Osun State’s 30 Local Government Areas, while Oyebamiji prevailed in 11.

President Bola Tinubu had also congratulated Adeleke on his re-election.

Fadahunsi’s congratulatory message comes against the backdrop of controversy over comments he made during the build-up to the governorship election.

During an APC campaign in parts of the state, the senator was captured in a viral video allegedly directing his supporters to attack members of the rival Accord party.

“From now on, whenever you see Accord members, kill them. I authorise you to kill them. They have wives and children too,” he was quoted as saying.

The remarks triggered widespread condemnation, with several Nigerians calling for his arrest.

Following the backlash, Fadahunsi sought to withdraw the comments, arguing that his words had been misinterpreted.

The police subsequently invited the senator to clarify the circumstances surrounding the remarks allegedly made during the APC campaign in Ilesa.
