FIRE GUTS FIVE SHOPS IN GOMBE, DESTROYS N4M PROPERTY

A fire outbreak at the Technology Incubation Centre, near the Police Headquarters in Gombe, on Friday destroyed property estimated at N4 million and affected five shops.

The Federal Fire Service, Gombe State Command, said its swift intervention prevented the fire from spreading further, saving property worth about N15 million.

According to the command, it received a distress call at about 10:14 a.m. and immediately deployed a multipurpose water tender to the scene.

The firefighting team, led by ASF II Mukhtar Shehu and driven by IF Bernard, arrived at the location and commenced operations, eventually putting out the fire with one medium jet of water.

The FFS said four of the five affected shops were successfully salvaged during the operation.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASF MB Muazu, said firefighters conducted a thorough inspection after extinguishing the flames and confirmed that there was no immediate risk of the fire reigniting.

Muazu said the incident resulted in an estimated loss of N4 million, while property valued at approximately N15 million was saved.

He added that the firefighting crew and appliance returned to the station at about 11:09 a.m. after confirming that the fire had been completely extinguished.

The Federal Fire Service reaffirmed its commitment to responding promptly to emergencies and protecting lives and property.

The command also urged residents to report fire incidents promptly and adhere to basic fire safety measures to prevent avoidable losses.
