Lebanon has announced that citizens of 13 African countries are eligible to obtain a tourist visa on arrival, allowing them to enter the country without first applying for a visa at a Lebanese embassy.
According to the Lebanese General Security, eligible travellers are issued a one-month tourist visa upon arrival at the country’s airports or land border crossings, provided they meet the prescribed entry requirements.
ELIGIBLE AFRICAN COUNTRIES
North Africa
- Algeria
- Egypt
- Libya
- Mauritania
- Morocco
- Sudan
- Tunisia
West Africa
- Ghana
- Côte d’Ivoire
- Nigeria
East Africa
- Comoros
- Djibouti
- Somalia
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Although nationals of these countries do not need to obtain a visa before travelling, they must present the following documents and meet the conditions upon arrival:
- A confirmed return ticket to their home country or an onward travel ticket.
- Proof of accommodation, either through a confirmed hotel reservation or a verified residential address in Lebanon, including the host’s contact telephone number.
- Evidence of sufficient funds, including at least $2,000 in cash or a certified bank cheque of the same value to cover the duration of their stay.
Lebanese immigration authorities warned that failure to meet these requirements could result in denial of entry, despite eligibility for a visa on arrival.
The development comes shortly after Fiji updated its 2026 visa policy, expanding visa-free access to citizens of 17 African countries across West, East, North and Southern Africa.
