POLICE INVESTIGATE DEATH OF 60-YEAR-OLD MAN AT JIGAWA HOTEL AFTER CHECKING IN WITH 20-YEAR-OLD WOMAN

The Jigawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the sudden death of a 60-year-old man who reportedly died after checking into a hotel in Dutse with a 20-year-old woman.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Shi’isu Adam, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Tuesday night, stating that the incident was reported on July 21, 2026, at about 12:50 p.m.
According to the police, the deceased developed a medical emergency shortly after requesting and eating a meal at the hotel.
“The incident occurred at a hotel in Dutse, where a 60-year-old man who checked in with a 20-year-old woman suddenly developed a medical emergency after requesting a meal,” the statement read.
Adam said the man reportedly began gasping for air shortly after the food was served.
Police officers attached to the Yalwawa Division responded promptly to a distress call and rushed the victim to the General Hospital in Dutse, where medical personnel later confirmed him dead.
Detectives subsequently secured the scene and carried out a preliminary investigation, recovering food items, beverages, a suspected sexual enhancement substance, and other personal belongings for forensic examination.
The police said all necessary procedures were followed to preserve evidence and support a comprehensive investigation.
Following medical certification of death and the completion of required procedures, the deceased’s body was released to his family for burial at their request.
The command also confirmed that the 20-year-old woman who was with the deceased is cooperating with investigators and has been providing useful information to help establish the sequence of events leading to the incident.
Jigawa State Commissioner of Police assured residents that the investigation would be conducted thoroughly, professionally, and impartially.
The police further urged members of the public to avoid speculation or spreading unverified information capable of causing unnecessary panic, adding that updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
