Government College Ibadan has announced the resumption of academic and boarding activities following its recent temporary closure over security concerns.
In a notice dated June 10, 2026, and addressed to parents and guardians, the school management said normal operations would resume after consultations and the implementation of strengthened security measures.
According to the notice, boarding students are expected to return to school on Sunday, June 14, 2026, while academic activities will officially resume on Monday, June 15, 2026.
The school stated that the temporary shutdown period would be treated as the institution’s mid-term break for the term, noting that there would be no additional break afterward.
Parents were advised to prepare their wards adequately for resumption and ensure that all outstanding boarding fees are settled on or before June 14 to support uninterrupted care and services for students.
The management acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the closure and reassured parents that the safety and welfare of students and staff remain its highest priority.
It added that, in collaboration with relevant security agencies, security arrangements across the school premises had been strengthened to create a safer learning environment.
The school also appreciated parents for their patience, understanding and cooperation during the period and expressed hope for sustained peace and security in Oyo State and across the country.
The statement was signed by the Principal, Olugbemi Oresegun.
