GOMBE GOVERNOR APPOINTS 19 NEW PERMANENT SECRETARIES

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has approved the appointment of 19 Permanent Secretaries to fill vacant positions in the state civil service and strengthen administrative capacity for improved service delivery.
The Head of the State Civil Service, Prof. Mu’azu Shehu, who announced the governor’s approval on Monday, said the appointments were necessitated by the shortage of Permanent Secretaries and the recent creation and restructuring of ministries by the state government.
He explained that filling the vacant positions would provide the affected ministries with competent administrative leadership and enable them to effectively carry out their responsibilities.
Shehu said the appointees were selected from 11 Local Government Areas, with consideration given to geographical representation, professional experience, competence and the specific needs of the various ministries.
“The officers selected for the appointments were drawn from 11 Local Government Areas, with due consideration given to geographical spread, professional experience, competence and the specific requirements of the various ministries,” he said.
He noted that the appointments were based on the officers’ suitability, competence and proven track records, adding that the recommended candidates had consistently performed satisfactorily and maintained clean service records throughout their careers.
According to him, the officers were carefully assessed and found qualified for the positions, having demonstrated relevant experience, commitment, professionalism and capacity in their respective areas of service.
The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are Haruna Mohammed Danburam and Mohammed Auwal Ahmed from Akko LGA; Alheri Yoriyo and Haruna Bello Gelengu from Balanga LGA; Ruth Caleb Maina from Billiri LGA; Auwal Abduljalal and Kasimu Umar from Dukku LGA; Musa Muhammad Babaji and Adamu Audi from Funakaye LGA; and Dr Hadi Mohammed and Ali Yaya Ahmed from Gombe LGA.
Others are Kabiru Mohammed Mahdi from Kwami LGA; Balarabe Musa and Tabitha B. James from Kaltungo LGA; Haruna Dadum Hamza and Ibrahim Mohammed Gombe from Nafada LGA; Tahir Adamu Sadiq from Shongom LGA; and Shuai’bu Chiroma Muhammad and Musa Idi Batari from Yamaltu-Deba LGA.
The statement said Governor Yahaya expects the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries to deploy their experience, professional expertise and proven capabilities to their new responsibilities.
It added that they were expected to contribute to the administration’s goal of building a more responsive, efficient, professional and results-driven civil service.
“All the appointments take immediate effect,” the statement added.
