GOMBE POLICE DISCOVER LIVE AMMUNITION HIDDEN IN SACK

The Gombe State Police Command has uncovered 119 rounds of 7.62mm AK-47 live ammunition concealed inside a sack along Kalshingi Road in Kwadon, Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the discovery followed credible intelligence received by the Divisional Police Officer of Kwadon Division at about 10:30am on May 19, 2026, regarding a suspicious white sack hidden beneath a tree opposite a graveyard along the road.
Abdullahi said the Divisional Police Officer immediately led a team of detectives to the scene where the sack was recovered and searched.
Items recovered from the sack included 119 rounds of 7.62mm AK-47 live ammunition, two empty ammunition packets, two bottles containing moringa seeds, and a green bag.
He added that police operatives swiftly combed the surrounding bushes and nearby areas after the discovery, although no suspect was arrested at the scene.
The spokesperson disclosed that the Command has since intensified surveillance and monitoring in the area while investigations continue to identify and apprehend those connected to the hidden ammunition.
The Commissioner of Police, Bello Yahaya, commended residents for providing timely information and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with credible intelligence to strengthen efforts against insecurity in the state.
