Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has emerged as the sole governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made on Friday in Enugu by the Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee, Danmalikin Hausa, following the party’s primary election exercise held across the state.

Hausa disclosed that 397,370 accredited party members participated in the exercise across 260 wards in Enugu State during the primary conducted on Thursday, describing the process as peaceful and credible.

He declared Mbah as the party’s sole candidate, noting that the exercise reflected strong internal democracy and unity within the state chapter of the APC.

“Enugu State APC is a well-coordinated chapter where internal democracy, consensus-building, discipline, synergy and peace reign supreme,” Hausa said, adding that the process was “rancour-free and indeed a carnival of sorts.”

He also commended President Bola Tinubu and the party’s national leadership for what he described as effective leadership that ensured orderly primaries across the country.

In his acceptance remarks, Governor Mbah expressed gratitude to the APC leadership and members in the state for endorsing him as the party’s flagbearer.

He described the development as a defining moment for the party and its supporters, while praising the national leadership for fostering unity and inclusion.

According to him, the endorsement reflects a shared vision and collective commitment to rebuilding the state and strengthening governance.

Mbah said he accepted the nomination with humility and a strong sense of responsibility, noting that his administration would continue to focus on transparency, accountability, and development-driven governance.

He added that despite the challenges ahead, the party remained committed and well-positioned for the 2027 elections.
