Omotola Ekeinde, a popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker, shared that her film ‘A Mother’s Love‘ earned a total of N103,094,633 from its time in the cinemas.However, after all the necessary expenses and deductions were taken into account, only N22 million went to the people who made the movie.She talked about this in a video she posted online, where she explained how the film did in the theaters and how much money was actually received by the team after all the costs were covered.
The actress said the film‘s total money earned in cinemas went down a lot after taking away costs like what the cinema owners, the people who spread the movie, printing, ads, taxes like VAT, entertainment tax, and other fees.
She mentioned that at the end of the movie’s run, they had made N103,094,633, but after all the costs, the producers got N22 million.
She also shared that all of that N22 million was given to Slum to School, which helps kids from poor areas, as part of a promise made by Red Hot Concepts.
Thinking back on her time in the cinema, Omotola said the last showing was on April 19. She called the experience tough but also satisfying.
She explained that she had to take the movie off the screens because of important personal matters. She didn’t want the film to stay in theaters without her there to talk about it and meet people.
She added that producers are supposed to be there to help promote the movie during its run, and she didn’t expect how hard it would be to be part of that process.
A Mother’s Love had earlier attracted attention with its premiere in Lagos, which was attended by several personalities, including actors Rita Dominic, Toke Makinwa and Nosa Rex, as well as former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
