KANO KILLINGS: SLAIN WOMAN’S YOUNGER BROTHER, TWO OTHER MEN ARRESTED BY POLICE

Force Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, has announced the arrest of three suspects over the gruesome killing, on Saturday, of a Kano woman; Fatima Abubakar and her six children, in the Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters of the ancient city.
In a post on his verified X handle, Hundeyin wrote “Umar Auwal, aka Breaker ‘m’, 23 yrs of Sabuwar Gandu Quarters, Isiyaku Yakubu, ‘m’, 40 yrs of Sagagi Quarters, and Yakubu Abdulaziz Dayyabu, ‘m’, 21 yrs of Sabon Gida Sharada Quarters, have been arrested in connection with the case by the Kano State Police Command.

“A thorough search conducted at their hideout led to the recovery of blood-stained clothes, a cutlass, a knife, and two mobile phones belonging to the deceased housewife.
“Diligent investigation into the ugly incident is ongoing.”
Earlier, Kano State Police Command PRO; SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said that the syndicate leader, Umar Auwalu, confessed to the crime and other killings in Kano, including the murder and burning of two housewives in Tudun Yola.
“The arrested suspects are: Umar Auwalu, 23 years old, of Sabuwar Gandu Quarters, Kano; Isyaku Yakubu, popularly known as “Chebe,” 40 years old, of Sagagi Quarters, Kano; and Yakubu Abdulaziz, popularly known as “Wawo,” 21 years old, of Sabon Gida Sharada Quarters, Kano.
The suspects were arrested during a covert sting operation conducted between 10:00 p.m. on January 17, 2026, and 4:00 a.m. on Sunday.”
The alleged ringleader, Umar Auwalu, who is the younger brother of the deceased woman, confessed to committing the murder. He further disclosed that the group has been involved in a series of killings and violent attacks in recent times, including the killing of a person and the burning of two houses in the Tudun Yola area of Kano State.
