The Katsina State Government has directed the shutdown of all public primary and secondary schools across the state until further notice.

Confirming the development, the State Commissioner for Secondary and Basic Education, Yusuf Suleiman Jibia, said the decision was taken as part of urgent measures to strengthen security and safeguard the educational system amidst rising threats targeting schools in the region.

The directive affects all government-owned basic and secondary education institutions, with no specified date for resumption.

Jibia noted that the safety of students and staff remains the government’s top priority and assured that authorities are working closely with security agencies to ensure adequate protection before schools reopen.

The move comes amid heightened security concerns across northern Nigeria, where educational institutions have increasingly been targeted by criminal groups.
