KIDDIES ARENA CHAMPIONS READING CULTURE, DONATES 1,710 BOOKS TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS STUDENTS (VIDEO)

Kiddies Arena Bookstore has strengthened its commitment to promoting literacy by reaching 1,710 students during its annual reading outreach and book donation programme held on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
The initiative, themed “Escape the Noise, Find Your Voice,” was organised to encourage young people to embrace reading as a pathway to self-discovery, personal growth and academic success.
The outreach covered Alagbado Junior Grammar School, Tomia Junior School and Tomia Senior School, where students received books aimed at inspiring a lifelong reading culture. At Tomia Senior School, the books were presented to SS1 and SS2 Arts students, completing the distribution of 1,710 books across the three schools.
Volunteers arrived early to prepare the venues, setting up banners and the stage ahead of the programme. The event was attended by Mrs. Bamishile, a representative of the Education District, whose presence underscored the support of education authorities for initiatives that promote literacy among young learners.
Teachers from the participating schools also worked closely with the volunteers to ensure the smooth coordination of activities and the orderly distribution of books.
Beyond donating books, the outreach featured engaging activities designed to cultivate students’ interest in reading. One of the highlights was an interactive session led by volunteer Mrs. Kifayah King, who engaged students with songs celebrating books as lifelong companions and gateways to knowledge.
The keynote address was delivered by Mrs. Afusat Akinyele, who challenged students to rise above distractions such as social media, peer pressure and other negative influences by embracing reading, developing their talents and discovering their unique purpose. Speaking on the outreach theme, she encouraged participants to build brighter futures through knowledge, discipline and self-confidence.
In her remarks, the Founder and Convener of the Kiddies Arena Annual Book Outreach, Mrs. Latifat Olayiwola, disclosed that the success of the initiative was made possible through the generosity of 86 donors who contributed books for the programme.
She expressed appreciation to every supporter, describing each donation as an investment in the future of a child. Special recognition was given to Mr. Jubril Sanusi, who donated 150 books, making him the highest individual donor to this year’s outreach after Kiddies Arena Bookstore.
The organisers also acknowledged the commitment of volunteers whose efforts ensured the success of the programme. Mr. Ibrahim Rasheed, Mr. Abdulbasit Balogun, Mr. Olamilekan Adebayo and Mr. Samuel Akinbuli coordinated the logistics and movement of hundreds of books, while Mrs. Latifat Akilu and Mrs. Aminat Oderemi supervised the book distribution alongside teachers and coordinated media coverage to document the day’s activities.
Reflecting on the outreach, the organisers described the programme as a collective achievement made possible through the generosity of donors, the dedication of volunteers, the cooperation of school administrators and teachers, and the enthusiasm of the students.
They reaffirmed Kiddies Arena Bookstore’s commitment to expanding access to quality books and nurturing a reading culture among children, expressing confidence that the books distributed would inspire students to discover their voices through knowledge and develop a lifelong passion for reading.
Speaking after the event, the organisers reiterated that every book placed in a child’s hands represents an investment in the future. They thanked the volunteers, teachers, education officials and supporters whose contributions made the outreach a success and pledged to continue extending the initiative to more schools and communities.
