The Kogi State Vigilante Service (KSVS) has arrested a 24-year-old man suspected of belonging to a kidnapping syndicate operating around the boundary between Kogi and Enugu states.

The suspect, identified as Muhammad Babuga, was apprehended at Igabada, a border community between the two states, at about 7 p.m. on Thursday.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the service’s spokesperson, Idris S. Idris, who said operatives of the Igalamela Command arrested the suspect following credible intelligence.

According to the statement, Babuga allegedly confessed to being a member of a criminal gang involved in kidnapping activities.

The service further alleged that the suspect was among individuals involved in the criminal operation who had previously been released by the gang after a ransom was paid.

Reacting to the arrest, the Comptroller-General of the Kogi State Vigilante Service, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Anataku, commended the operatives for their dedication and effective security operations.

Anataku urged personnel to sustain their efforts in combating criminal activities and reducing crime across the state.

He also expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmed Ododo for his continued support and encouragement, noting that the backing had boosted personnel morale and enhanced the service’s operational effectiveness.

The comptroller-general called on residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist in preventing crime and apprehending suspected criminals.

He stressed that public cooperation remained crucial to strengthening security and protecting lives and property across the state.

The Kogi State Vigilante Service reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside other security agencies to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities within the state.
