Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested four suspected cultists and alleged hitmen linked to a series of violent crimes and killings in the Ajanmgbadi area of Ojo Local Government Area.

The suspects, identified as Emmanuel Nwokolo, popularly known as “Oblo,” Ayola Israel, alias “Essy Pawpaw,” Ebuka Nnamdi, and Chinedu Okafor, were apprehended at a hotel in Ajanmgbadi following credible intelligence received by the command.

The arrest was announced in a statement issued on June 2, 2026, by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi.

According to the police, preliminary investigations uncovered evidence allegedly linking the suspects to several violent crimes in Ajanmgbadi and surrounding communities.

Investigators reportedly recovered a video from one of the suspects’ mobile phones, which allegedly showed the killing of unidentified persons within the area.

During interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to being members of the Aiye Confraternity and admitted involvement in a series of violent attacks and killings that had terrorised residents.

Further searches conducted by police operatives led to the recovery of two locally fabricated pistols, one revolver pistol and 13 live cartridges believed to have been used in criminal operations.

The command said investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects’ activities, identify other members of the gang and apprehend additional accomplices.

The suspects are expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for the successful operation and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating cultism, violent crime and other criminal activities across the state.

He assured residents that the police would continue to pursue criminal elements threatening public safety and urged members of the public to support security agencies with timely and credible information.

The command reiterated its resolve to rid Lagos State of cult-related violence and ensure that perpetrators of violent crimes are brought to justice.
