LASUCAS DELEGATION BRIEFS LASU VICE-CHANCELLOR ON SUCCESSFUL BRAZIL CONFERENCE

A delegation from the Lagos State University Centre for Afro-Brazilian Studies (LASUCAS), led by its Director, Professor Tayo Ajayi, on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, following the successful participation of the University in the 4th LASUCAS International Conference held in Salvador, Brazil.
The delegation comprised members of staff who represented LASU at the international conference hosted at the Faculty of Architecture, Federal University of Bahia (Universidade Federal da Bahia – UFBA), Salvador, Brazil.
The conference, which took place from June 29, 2026, was themed “South-South Cooperation: Nigeria and Brazil’s Roles in Fostering Collaboration among Emerging Economies.”
It brought together scholars, policymakers, diplomats, traditional rulers and cultural stakeholders from Nigeria and Brazil to examine opportunities for deeper collaboration in areas including economic development, technological innovation, cultural exchange, sustainable development and global governance.
The gathering also provided a platform for strengthening academic partnerships, promoting scholarly engagement and reinforcing the longstanding historical and cultural ties between Nigeria and Brazil.
During the courtesy visit, the LASUCAS delegation briefed the Vice-Chancellor on the outcomes of the conference and reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to advancing international collaboration, research and academic exchange in line with Lagos State University’s vision of global engagement.
