MAKINDE WILL UNSEAT TINUBU IN 2027, APM DECLARES

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has declared that its presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Seyi Makinde, has what it takes to defeat President Bola Tinubu at the polls.

The party made the assertion in a statement issued on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, in response to recent comments by presidential spokesman Daniel Bwala, who reportedly described Makinde as politically insignificant.

According to the APM, the remarks from the Presidency suggest growing unease over Makinde’s increasing political influence ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Yusuf argued that the outcome of the 2027 election would determine who truly lacks relevance in the contest.

“Instead of defending its performance in office, the Presidency has resorted to attacking individuals. The decision to deploy presidential aides to criticise Governor Makinde reflects a lack of confidence in its achievements,” the statement said.

The party also referenced Bwala’s appearance on Al Jazeera earlier this year, stating that Nigerians were already familiar with what it described as the communication approach of the current administration.

“Daniel Bwala will eventually have cause to regret his remarks about Governor Makinde,” the statement added.

The APM maintained that the next presidential election would effectively be a contest between Makinde and Tinubu and expressed confidence that the Oyo State governor would emerge victorious.

Yusuf further claimed that Tinubu should be concerned about Makinde’s growing popularity, citing the governor’s record in Oyo State, which he said has transformed the state into one of Nigeria’s leading economies.

He added that many Nigerians would like to see similar achievements replicated at the national level.
