MAN KILLS NURSING MOTHER, BABY OVER PATERNITY DISPUTE IN KATSINA

BY UTHMAN MOHAMMED
A 30-year–old nursing mother and her 10-month–old child were killed and left in a well in Sheme village, which is in the Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The bad thing happened because some men were fighting about who the baby‘s real father was. The police in Katsina caught one of them, Rabiâu, who is 35 years old. He told them he helped kill the woman and her baby with another person who is still missing.
A police officer named DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu told this in a statement.
He said the men tricked the woman and her baby into going to a place near Sheme village. There, they killed them, set their bodies on fire, and threw them into a well.
The police said they found out the men had a big argument about paternity with the woman, which probably caused this terrible event.
The statement said the bodies have been found and Rabi’u, in jail. They are still trying to catch the other person who ran away.
The top police officer, CP Bello Shehu, called the killing very cruel and not kind at all. He assured residents that the command would ensure justice is served and that no stone will be left unturned in the investigation.
The Command also appealed to members of the public to volunteer credible information that could lead to the arrest of the second suspect, assuring that such information would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
Police say investigations are ongoing.
