A man has suffered serious injuries after entering a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in South Yorkshire, England, prompting the evacuation of the park.

Sky News reported on Saturday, October 10, 2026, that emergency services were called to the wildlife attraction near Doncaster following the incident.

South Yorkshire Police said they received reports of a man entering the tiger enclosure on Saturday afternoon.

“The tiger has subsequently attacked the man and this has resulted in serious injury,” the police said, adding that officers were attempting to contact the man’s family.

The force confirmed that the tiger remained inside the enclosure and assured the public that there was “no wider risk to the public”.

The park was evacuated following the incident, while police remained at the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.

In a statement, Yorkshire Wildlife Park said its emergency response procedures were immediately activated and emergency services were attending the scene.

“We are working closely with the authorities to ascertain exactly what happened,” the park said.

It added that the “safety and wellbeing of visitors, staff and animals remain our highest priority”.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service said it was called to the scene at 1.30pm on Saturday.

“We sent a number of resources, including two land ambulances, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and a doctor,” a spokesperson said.

The park was closed for the remainder of the weekend following the incident.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park describes itself as a walk-through wildlife attraction housing animals including lions, giraffes, tigers, leopards and black rhinos.

According to the park’s website, a 300-metre raised walkway runs through its Land of the Tigers section, allowing visitors to observe the animals in their habitat.

Police said investigations into the incident were ongoing.
