NECO RELEASES 2026 SSCE RESULTS, RECORDS 64.74% DROP IN EXAM MALPRACTICE

The National Examinations Council has released the results of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination.
According to the council, 1,496 candidates were recorded for examination malpractice in 2026, representing a 64.74 per cent decline from the 3,878 cases recorded in 2025.
The NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, disclosed this on Thursday during a press briefing on the examination results.
Wushishi said 1,378,048 candidates registered for the examination, while 1,371,992 candidates eventually sat for the examination.

He stated that 804,948 candidates, representing 58.67 per cent, obtained at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
He added that 1,126,118 candidates, representing 84.70 per cent, secured five credits and above regardless of their performance in English Language and Mathematics.
Wushishi attributed the decline in examination malpractice partly to the introduction of computer-based testing for NECO examinations.
Responding to questions from journalists, the registrar also said the council was not involved with so-called “miracle centres.”
He explained that NECO only registers examination centres that meet its established requirements and operates just one school.
“If there are miracle centres, it is the state governments that established these miracle centres, or they are privately owned, but NECO does not believe in miracle centres,” he said.
