NIDCOM RESPONDS TO AUDITOR-GENERAL’S QUERY OVER 2023 EXPENDITURE

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has said it has comprehensively responded to the query issued by the Office of the Auditor-General concerning its 2023 expenditure.

The Commission said its response had been officially submitted to the Office of the Auditor-General as well as the Public Accounts Committees of the National Assembly.

NiDCOM, in a statement, said all enquiries regarding its 2023 audited report should be directed to the Office of the Auditor-General and the Public Accounts Committees of the National Assembly, which are responsible for carrying out the relevant oversight functions.

The Commission assured that all issues raised in the query had been addressed and supported with documentary evidence.

“For the avoidance of doubt, a query is meant to be responded to and NiDCOM, like any other responsible government institution, has done exactly that,” the statement said.

NiDCOM further clarified that an audit observation does not, in itself, constitute a final finding of wrongdoing.

“It is therefore premature and inappropriate for any organisation to prejudge the Commission’s response or draw conclusions before the relevant facts, records and explanations have been fully considered,” it added.

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and due process.
