NIGERIAN ARMY REDEPLOYS SENIOR OFFICERS, APPOINTS NEW HADIN KAI THEATRE COMMANDER

The Nigerian Army has carried out a major reshuffle of its senior leadership, redeploying several generals and brigadier generals to strategic command, operational and administrative positions across the Service.
The postings, approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, are aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness and aligning the Army’s leadership structure with the country’s evolving security challenges.
The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, disclosed the development in a statement shared on the Nigerian Army’s X handle on Wednesday.
She said the exercise focused on critical operational theatres and strategic appointments to ensure that officers with the required experience and expertise were deployed to positions where they could contribute effectively to the Army’s mission.
As part of the changes, Major General IA Ajose has been transferred from the Army Headquarters Department of Army Operations to the Theatre Command of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, where he will serve as Theatre Commander.
Major General AE Abubakar, a former officer under Operation HADIN KAI, has been redeployed to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre as Dean of the Faculty of Operational Research.
Also, Major General AM Alechenu has moved from the Defence Headquarters Garrison to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, while Major General RT Utsaha has been posted from the Army Headquarters Department of Army Standards and Evaluation to the Defence Headquarters Garrison as Commander.
Major General AM Umar has been redeployed from the Army Headquarters Department of Civil-Military Affairs to the Army War College Nigeria as Commandant. His position at the Department of Civil-Military Affairs will be taken over by Major General UM Alkali, who has been transferred from the Army War College.
In another major change, Major General GS Muhammed has moved from the Office of the National Security Adviser to the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation as Director General.
Major General JE Osifo has also been transferred from the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation to the Military Pension Board as Chairman, while Major General IE Ekpenyong has been posted to the Defence Headquarters Department of Defence Logistics as Director of Engineering Services.
At the operational level, Brigadier General AA Bello has been redeployed from 6 Division Garrison/Sector 3 Joint Task Force South-South, Operation DELTA SAFE, to the Defence Headquarters Department of Defence Operations.
Brigadier General MS Adamu has moved from the Nigerian Army Women Command to the newly established 8 Brigade as Commander, while Brigadier General MS Sule has been posted from Special Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE to 27 Task Force Brigade as Commander.
Similarly, Brigadier General I Sule has been transferred from the Directorate of Recruitment Management to 6 Division Garrison as Commander.
Brigadier General E Azenda has also been redeployed from the Land Forces Simulation Centre to 2 Division Garrison as Commander, while Brigadier General AS Bugaje has moved from 2 Division Garrison to the Land Forces Simulation Centre as Director of Administration.
The Chief of Army Staff charged the newly appointed commanders and senior officers to justify the confidence placed in them through exemplary leadership, professionalism, operational innovation and commitment to duty.
Shaibu urged the officers to remain focused on the constitutional responsibilities of the Nigerian Army, particularly the defence of the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as support for civil authorities in maintaining peace and security.
The Army said the latest postings formed part of its efforts to maintain a dynamic leadership and force-employment structure capable of improving operational performance and strengthening coordination among security agencies.
It added that the reshuffle was expected to enhance the Service’s ability to respond effectively to emerging and contemporary security threats while advancing Nigeria’s national security objectives.
