Olubunmi Johnson, a man who has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command, is accused of lighting his wife Kikelomo on fire in their residence on Fagbuyi Street, Ilogbo, in the Ota neighborhood of Ogun State.

An eyewitness on Saturday night reported that the incident happened after a domestic argument at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Friday.

Although the specific events leading up to the altercation are still unknown as of the time of this report, Omolola Odutola, the state police command spokeswoman, informed our correspondent that Johnson has been arrested in relation to the crime.

Our correspondent has learned that the victim’s family notified the police about what is currently being investigated as an attempted murder after a neighbor who saw the incident contacted them.

Odutola informed our correspondent that the 55-year-old suspect was arrested as a consequence of prompt action by Ilogbo Division police personnel.

“The husband doused his wife’s body with petrol and set her on fire with a match. Witnesses to the incident immediately rushed her to the hospital.

“Upon receiving the report, our detectives quickly took action and arrested the husband, who has since been detained.”
