The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed concern over reported cases of extrajudicial killings in Osogbo, the state capital, and other parts of the state.
The party raised the concern in a statement issued on Saturday by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, saying the reported incidents had become a source of worry to residents and other stakeholders.
The APC urged the Osun State Government and security agencies to prioritise the protection of lives and property across the state.
The opposition party said it had expected the conclusion of the August 15, 2026 governorship election, in which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Governor Ademola Adeleke the winner, to bring an end to reported killings in the state.
However, the party said that expectation had not been fulfilled, noting that violent incidents continued to raise concerns over the safety of residents and visitors.
The APC warned that persistent reports of violence could create fear among people from other states who may wish to visit or conduct business in Osun.
It also called on relevant stakeholders to address the security situation and prevent repeated negative reports about the state.
The party cited a reported attack at the Owo-Eba area, near Ilesa Garage in Osogbo, where two people were allegedly killed on Friday.
According to the statement, the victims were reportedly attacked by unidentified hoodlums armed with guns, machetes, knives and cudgels in front of Peka’s Bar.
The APC identified one of the deceased as Small Rugged, whom it described as being known within the state’s thuggery circle, while the second victim was identified as Seyi Osha.
It added that several others, including Mascot, said to be a personal assistant to Small Rugged, Spirit and Agba Kali, a passer-by, sustained serious injuries in the attack.
The party sympathised with residents over what it described as the activities of individuals allegedly using violence to settle disputes in parts of the state.
It urged Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration to take decisive measures to protect residents, while calling on the police and other security agencies to intensify efforts to safeguard lives and property.
The APC maintained that reported killings should not be allowed to occur without those accused being subjected to due judicial process.
