OSUN DECIDES 2026: SPORADIC GUNFIRE FORCES RESIDENTS TO FLEE WARD COLLATION CENTRE

Sporadic gunshots were heard on Saturday night at the premises of Union Baptist Primary School in Osogbo, Osun State, where the Ataoja D Ward 4 collation centre is located.
The shooting, reportedly involving security personnel, occurred between 9:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., forcing residents and others in the vicinity to flee the area for safety.
The reason for the shooting was not immediately known.
Our correspondent, who was close to the scene, reported that security personnel fired several shots into the air, while canisters were also released within the premises.
The shooting persisted for more than 15 minutes, with many people close to the collation centre running for cover.
The incident occurred as the collation of results from Saturday’s governorship election was ongoing at different centres across the state.
