OSUN ELECTION: FRSC DEPLOYS 2,500 PERSONNEL, 50 VEHICLES FOR TRAFFIC, EMERGENCY RESPONSE

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 2,500 personnel and 50 operational vehicles across Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The deployment covers the state’s three senatorial districts and all FRSC operational areas, with personnel assigned to traffic management, emergency response, removal of road obstructions and enforcement of the restriction of movement during the election.
The Corps disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by its Deputy Corps Commander and Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri.

According to the FRSC, the deployment comprises 2,300 personnel from the Osun Sector Command, alongside 50 personnel each from the Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo and Ogun sector commands.
The operational fleet includes seven heavy-duty tow trucks and six ambulances, strategically positioned to support rescue operations and respond to emergencies.
FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, said the deployment was part of efforts to support a safe, peaceful and credible electoral process within the agency’s statutory responsibilities.
He assured that personnel would carry out their duties with professionalism, neutrality, discipline and respect for human rights while working alongside other security and election management agencies.
The Corps also said it would inspect and certify vehicles provided by fleet operators to transport electoral materials, ensuring they are roadworthy and meet prescribed safety standards.
It disclosed that a Train-the-Trainer workshop would also be organised to enhance the capacity of personnel deployed for the election, with participation from the FRSC, Nigeria Police Force, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Department of State Services (DSS) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
On the restriction of movement, the FRSC said enforcement vehicles would be deployed from 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, with personnel stationed at strategic locations across the state.
The Corps urged motorists, transport operators and other road users to plan their journeys, obey lawful traffic directives and avoid restricted routes during the election period.
It added that its personnel would handle traffic control, crowd management, road obstruction clearance and rescue operations before, during and after the election.
The FRSC further directed officers on election duty to remain neutral, alert and respectful of citizens’ rights, regardless of political affiliation, religion or other considerations, in line with the Electoral Act.
