OTTI RULES OUT PRESIDENTIAL BID, SAYS HE’LL RETIRE AFTER TENURE

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has said he will not seek the presidency or contest any other elective position after completing his tenure as governor.

Otti disclosed this during an interview with Arise TV on Friday while responding to questions about the political ambitions of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and whether he could consider a presidential bid in the future.

The Abia governor said he planned to leave active politics after completing his tenure, ruling out contests for the Senate, local government chairmanship or any other political office.

According to him, his current focus is on fulfilling what he described as his calling and responsibilities as governor.

Otti also said he had no disagreement with Obi and would allow the former Anambra governor to campaign freely in Abia if he chose to do so.

He said the same opportunity would be extended to other political figures seeking to campaign in the state, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Otti stressed that allowing political candidates to campaign was part of the democratic process.

Asked specifically if he would run for president after his tenure, the governor said he had already decided to retire from politics.

He said he did not intend to pursue any further elective position after completing his assignment as governor.

Otti added that he was focused on completing his current responsibilities and would retire from political contests thereafter.
