Parents Beg Olubadan, Oyo CP to Secure Release of Kidnapped NYSC Prospective Corps Members

Parents of prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who were recently kidnapped have appealed to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, and other relevant stakeholders to secure the safe and timely release of their children.

The parents made the appeal on Saturday when they visited the Olubadan at his residence in Ibadan.

It was gathered that about 19 prospective NYSC members were abducted in the early hours of Thursday while travelling to NYSC orientation camps in Abia and Akwa Ibom states.

The victims had reportedly left Ibadan on Wednesday before they were kidnapped.

The parents, who converged on the Olubadan’s residence, urged the traditional ruler to intervene and engage relevant authorities to secure the safe release of their children.

The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga, and the Aseyin of Iseyinland, Oba Sefiu Adeyeri, were also at the Olubadan’s residence when the parents arrived.

The parents appealed to the Olubadan, the police commissioner and the Aseyin to urgently intervene in the matter.

According to the parents, the kidnappers had contacted them using the mobile phones of the abducted prospective corps members.

One of the parents, Alhaja Alimot Akande, pleaded with the traditional ruler and security authorities to act swiftly to secure the victims’ release.

“They are threatening that anything untoward will happen to our children if we fail to heed their request. Baba, kindly assist us. Don’t let them kill our children,” she appealed.
