POLICE APPREHEND 10 FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER IN OSUN

The police in Osun State have caught 10 people in two different actions connected to suspected violent crimes in Modakeke and an attack on the Osun State Polytechnic in Iree.

In Modakeke, which is in the Ife East Local Government Area, four individuals were taken into custody.
They are suspected of planning harmful activities, trying to kill someone, causing injury through assault, and illegally owning banned guns.

These four suspects—Olufemi Olatunji, 39; Ajayi Idowu, 31; Akingbala Oluwakemi, 40; and Adekunle Basirat, 40—were arrested by police officers around 2 a.m.
on August 9, 2026, after a request was made to the police commissioner.

This information was shared by DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the Police Public Relations Officer for the command, in a statement on Wednesday.

Police searches of the suspects’ residences and premises reportedly led to the recovery of two firearms — a locally manufactured cut-to-size firearm and a pump-action gun.

According to the command, the locally made firearm was recovered from Basirat’s shop, while the pump-action firearm was found at Oluwakemi’s residence.

The police identified Basirat as the wife of Solomon Akinlabi, popularly known as “Indomine,” while Oluwakemi was identified as the wife of Akingbala Akindele, alias “Ostand.”

“The suspects are now in police custody and are helping the police with the investigation,” the statement said.

In another operation, members of the Violent Crime Response Unit arrested six people suspected of being part of an illegal group after reports of an alleged attack on the Osun State Polytechnic in Iree.

The incident reportedly involved armed attackers, and two students were injured.

The six suspects are Ajoba Akorede, 27; Adam Oseni, 27; Ogunrinde Ayomide, 21; Ogunlana Muheez, 26; Ajose Noah, 25; and Adeniyi Damola, 25.

The police said Akorede and Oseni confessed during questioning that they were part of the Aye confraternity, but the police have not yet confirmed if the two were students at the college.
