The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with an armed robbery incident in Katoge Village, Kazaure Local Government Area.
The suspects were apprehended in the early hours of Thursday, around 4:00 am, following a coordinated operation led by officers from the Kazaure Divisional Police Headquarters, in collaboration with Operation Salama, local vigilantes, and community neighbourhood watch groups.
According to a statement released on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, the arrest was made possible through credible intelligence and swift police response.
Adam disclosed that the suspects had allegedly terrorised residents of Katoge Quarters and broken into the homes of three individuals, carting away several valuables. Items recovered during the operation include a locally made Dane gun, local ammunition, a suspected stolen motorcycle, a power bank, a mattress, two sheep believed to be stolen, and N50,000 in cash.
“The quick response of the police prevented further escalation and loss of life. The suspects are currently in custody and under investigation,” the police spokesperson said.
He added that a preliminary investigation confirmed that the suspects had conspired and carried out the robbery, and that they would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Jigawa State Police Command commended the officers involved in the successful operation for their bravery and professionalism. It also called on members of the public to continue sharing timely and credible information to aid in combating crime across the state.
