LAGOS POLICE FOIL CULTISTS’ PLOTS AHEAD OF NOTORIOUS 7:7 DAY, ARREST 52 IN JOINT RAIDS

The Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of 52 suspected cultists in a series of coordinated preemptive raids ahead of July 7, popularly known as “7:7 Cultism Day” a date historically marred by cult-related violence, reprisal attacks, and bloodshed across the state.
According to a statement released on Saturday, July 6, by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the arrests were made during intelligence-led joint operations carried out by the Anti-Cultism Squads and Special Tactical Teams in Mushin and surrounding areas. The suspects were allegedly planning violent attacks set to take place on Sunday.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, assured Lagosians that the Command has put in place “robust and proactive security strategies” to prevent any breakdown of law and order during the high-risk period. The CP stated that “the peaceful atmosphere in Lagos State will not be disrupted by cultists under any guise.”
The police have massively deployed operatives, including members of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), the State Intelligence Department, and other tactical units, across the state to ensure public safety and deter any form of violence.
CP Jimoh issued a stern warning to hotel owners, managers of lounges and recreational centers, and community leaders against harboring or enabling cult-related gatherings. He stressed that violators will face the full weight of the law.
Furthermore, parents and guardians were urged to speak to their children and wards, warning them against involvement in cultism and other criminal activities. “The consequences are severe,” the CP warned, “and the Command will not hesitate to prosecute offenders.”
In a high-level operational meeting held earlier today at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja, CP Jimoh directed all anti-cultism and tactical squad commanders to remain on red alert and ensure no group is allowed to instigate violence during the period.
The Command also encouraged Lagos residents to carry on with their lawful activities without fear, assuring them of maximum protection. Citizens are advised to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or via emergency hotlines 08063299264 and 08065154338.
The Lagos State Police Command reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to preserving peace and security in all communities across the state.
