POLICE ARREST SUSPECT OVER N630,000 ROBBERY IN YOBE

The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, Auwal Mallam Ari, over the alleged robbery of N630,000 from two victims in Goneri, Yunusari Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Yusuf Adamu Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Aliyu said the State Criminal Investigation Department in Damaturu received a complaint on August 16, 2026, from Goni Abdullahi of Baimari, who reported receiving threatening phone calls before allegedly being dispossessed of N130,000.

According to the police, investigations into the complaint led to the arrest of Ari, who reportedly confessed to the offence.

The suspect allegedly told investigators that he and his accomplices had earlier robbed another victim, identified as Malam Alarama, of N500,000 in Goneri.

Ari reportedly identified one Audu Baimari as the alleged leader of the group.

The police, however, said Baimari remains at large, adding that efforts are ongoing to arrest him and bring him to justice.
