DELTA APC CHIEFTAIN HOSPITALISED AFTER ALLEGED ATTACK BY THUGS

Suspected thugs have allegedly attacked and seriously injured the Secretary-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Uwheru Kingdom, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Edewor Akpedafe.

The incident reportedly occurred during a meeting at the residence of Olorogun Miller Uloho, the Advisory Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council.

The meeting was reportedly convened amid a longstanding land dispute over ownership of an oil facility between Evwreni Kingdom (Unenurhie) and Uwheru Kingdom.

According to reports, Akpedafe was allegedly dragged along the floor into a Sienna bus, where his attackers continued to assault him with dangerous weapons.

He was later taken to the Ughelli North Local Government Council Secretariat, where the alleged beating reportedly continued until his condition worsened.

Sympathisers subsequently took the APC chieftain to the office of the Police Area Commander in Ughelli.

The Area Commander reportedly directed that Akpedafe be immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention.

The victim is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital, where doctors are attending to injuries reportedly sustained to his head and other parts of his body.

The alleged attack has sparked concern within the Uwheru community and political circles in Ughelli, particularly because it reportedly took place during a meeting convened to mediate the dispute and seek a peaceful resolution.

The identities and roles of those allegedly involved in the attack, as well as the circumstances surrounding the incident, had not been independently established as of the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, some individuals within political circles in Ughelli have accused the Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council, Hon. Jaro Egbo, of possibly having a role in the incident.

However, the allegation against Egbo could not be independently verified as of press time.
