Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his condolences to Lionel Messi following the death of the Argentine football star’s father.
Ronaldo reached out to his longtime rival with a message of support, offering strength and encouragement to Messi and his family during the difficult period.
According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Ronaldo said in a message shared on X on Wednesday: “Huge hug to you and your loved ones in this difficult moment, Leo. Stay strong.”
The gesture further highlighted the mutual respect between Ronaldo and Messi, despite their long-standing rivalry that has defined an era of world football.
The two football icons have frequently spoken positively about each other off the pitch, maintaining a cordial relationship despite their intense competition over the years.
Messi recently mourned the death of his father, who served as his agent and a major source of support throughout his career. His father died aged 68 following a battle with cancer.
