FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has ordered the immediate closure of the secretariat of the dissolved Ad-Hoc Committee on the Sale of Federal Government Houses in the Federal Capital Territory.
The FCT Administration disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
According to the statement, Wike also approved the establishment of a new division within the Department of Land Administration to oversee the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.
The newly created division will assume all responsibilities previously handled by the dissolved Ad-Hoc Committee.
The administration explained that the committee’s secretariat remained operational after the completion of its mandate to address matters arising from its activities.
With the formal closure of the secretariat, residents and other members of the public have been directed to approach the Department of Land Administration for all enquiries and matters concerning the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.
The FCT Administration also cautioned the public against fraudsters claiming to be staff, officers or members of the dissolved committee or its secretariat.
It stressed that the committee and its secretariat no longer exist and urged members of the public to be vigilant against individuals attempting to exploit the name of the defunct body.
