EDO NYSC AWARDEES SET TO REPLICATE NATIONAL AWARD-WINNING INNOVATIONS

Ten indigenes of Edo State who were among the 210 recipients of the 2025 President’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Honours Award have expressed their readiness to replicate the innovations that earned them the national recognition in the state.
The award recipients are Divine Omoruyi, Joy Ehinome, Odu Donald, Osaretin Michael, Osas Unuane, Dr Samuel Elaiho, Etinosa Ajayi, Charles Hope, Adesuwa Asubaja and Mary Aimuam.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Omoruyi said they were willing to bring their innovative ideas and experiences to Edo State if provided with the necessary support and opportunities.
He said their NYSC experiences could be leveraged to develop initiatives capable of contributing to the state’s growth and development.

President Bola Tinubu had on July 29, 2025, presented the 2025 President’s NYSC Honours Award to 210 former corps members who served between 2020 and 2023 during a ceremony at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The recipients were selected based on outstanding performance and contributions during their service years in various states across the country.
Omoruyi, an Economics and Statistics graduate of the University of Benin, was recognised for his innovative use of statistical analysis and digital technology to improve NYSC administrative processes during his service in Taraba State.
Another awardee, Dr Samuel Elaiho, an optometrist and University of Benin graduate, was honoured for his humanitarian medical outreach during his service in Abia State, where he impacted hundreds of residents.
His performance earned him the Abia State Best Corps Member Award in 2022 before he went on to receive the national honour.
The other eight Edo indigenes were similarly recognised for outstanding contributions across various areas of service.
Collectively, the awardees were recognised for excellence in public service, innovation, healthcare, education, youth empowerment and community development, in line with the core values of the NYSC.
