SEMA, NEMA DISTRIBUTE RELIEF MATERIALS TO 300 HOUSEHOLDS IN TARABA

At least 300 households displaced by recent crises in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State have received relief materials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in collaboration with the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
The beneficiaries were selected from the Chanchangi, Yamma, Kufai Amadu, Mamie Market, Rubar and Sufa communities.
Speaking during the distribution, NEMA Director-General Zubaida Umar’s representative, Malut Hussain, sympathised with the affected families and reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to providing humanitarian support to victims of disasters and conflict across the country.
He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the relief materials while embracing peaceful coexistence to prevent a recurrence of violence.
Also speaking, the Director of Administration, Taraba State Emergency Management Agency, Sani Maisukwati, who represented the Secretary of TSEMA, Dr Echuseh Audu, described the intervention as a demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing humanitarian challenges.
Maisukwati commended NEMA for its continued partnership with the Taraba State Government in providing support to vulnerable communities affected by disasters and conflicts.
According to him, the intervention aligns with Governor Agbu Kefas’ commitment to the welfare of citizens, particularly vulnerable persons affected by crises.
Items distributed included bags of rice and maize, cartons of spaghetti, vegetable oil, tomato paste, seasoning cubes, iodised salt, guinea brocade, wax prints and mats.
Some of the beneficiaries from Peva-Chanchanji, Kufai Ahmadu and Manya, who spoke to our correspondent, commended SEMA, NEMA and Governor Agbu Kefas for continually providing humanitarian assistance.
“We want to thank Governor Agbu Kefas and the humanitarian agencies for these relief materials. This is the fourth time we are receiving relief supplies from the government after the Fulani attacks on our communities.
This has gone to show that the government is aware of the insecurity in our area. We want to appeal to the government to deploy security personnel to flush out the criminals and secure our communities so that we can safely return to our farms,” one of the beneficiaries, Veronica Iortom, told our correspondent by phone from Peva-Chanchanji.
