SEUN KUTI CRITICISES PETER OBI AFTER ALIGNING WITH ATIKU AND ADC: “NO MORE OBIDIENTS”

By: Muftau Fatimo
Nigerian Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti sparked intense online debate after calling out former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
His criticism followed reports that the former Anambra State governor had aligned with his former rival, Atiku Abubakar, under a new political platform.
Seun Kuti further accused Nigerian politicians of exploiting their supporters for personal political gain — a claim that drew mixed reactions across social media.
Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi have both exited their respective parties — the PDP and Labour Party — to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
According to the media, this marks one of the most significant political shake-ups in Nigeria since the return to democracy in 1999. Several key figures from Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) are also reportedly backing the new coalition.
Peter Obi initially parted ways with the PDP after Atiku Abubakar emerged as the party’s presidential candidate.
Reacting to Obi’s recent alignment with Atiku under the ADC coalition, Seun Kuti mocked the move in an Instagram Live session, describing it as a strategy to manipulate Nigerians for political gain.
The Afrobeat musician also took a swipe at Obi’s passionate fanbase, known as the Obidients, suggesting their influence had faded.
“Now that Peter Obi has gone back home to Atiku, I don’t need to talk about the Obidients anymore,” Kuti said mockingly.

@omoeleko1 added: “Seun, God’s blessings upon you and your household 👏🙌🙌🙌.”
