Vice President Kashim Shettima is in Lagos State to take part in the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference 2025.
On Monday, he was welcomed by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other senior government officials.
The governor was then greeted by the military leaders at the event. The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retired), along with other military officials, is also at the conference. Musa was seen saying hello to his former colleagues.
Stanley Nkwocha, the President’s Spokesman for Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), announced on X that the Vice President would arrive on Monday. He said Shettima is representing President Bola Tinubu as a Special Guest of Honour.
“Upon arrival at the venue of the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference in Lagos, Vice President Kashim Shettima inspected a military guard of honour, in line with the armed forces’ traditional way of paying tribute to a dignitary,” Nkwocha wrote.

The conference, themed “Examining the Current Landscape of Terrorism Through the Lenses of Diplomatic and Military Action Strategy for Long-term Prevention and Stabilisation,” is designed to explore strategies for countering terrorism through both diplomatic and military approaches.

In addition, the event will include the launch of the book A Life of Service, which honors the 23rd Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.
