Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election for a second term, saying the victory reflects the confidence voters have placed in his leadership.

Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, was declared winner of the August 15, 2026 Osun governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission after securing 511,067 votes. He defeated his closest challenger, All Progressives Congress candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.

The incumbent won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in 11.

In a goodwill message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, on Monday, Soludo said the election outcome demonstrated the trust the people of Osun had placed in Adeleke to lead the state for another four years.

Soludo also commended Osun voters for participating peacefully in the election, describing their participation as an indication of the strength of Nigeria’s democracy and the power of citizens to influence their collective future.

He urged Adeleke to use his renewed mandate to promote inclusive governance and prioritise development beyond partisan interests.

The Anambra governor also called on all political actors in Osun State, including the ruling party, opposition parties and civil society groups, to embrace peace, unity and cooperation for the overall development of the state.

Soludo wished Adeleke a successful second term, urging him to govern with wisdom, courage and magnanimity while pursuing policies that would deliver lasting benefits to the people.

He said the peaceful conduct of the election should serve as a reminder that democracy thrives when citizens are allowed to freely exercise their political rights and leaders place the interests of the people above partisan considerations.
