Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has released a video showing individuals involved in the October 30 attack on him, African Action Congress (AAC) members and his team in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Sowore shared the footage on his X account, describing it as a major breakthrough in efforts to identify those responsible for the attack, during which a member of his team was reportedly assaulted.

In the post, the activist also raised concerns over the alleged disappearance of CCTV recordings from Tawakalitu Restaurant, where the incident occurred.

He claimed that police officers and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) took possession of the surveillance equipment and later returned it without the recorded footage.

Sowore further disclosed that he had contacted the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade; the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ado-Ekiti Central Police Station, Mustapha Mohammed; and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) commander to demand updates on the investigation.

According to him, the officers claimed there was no formal complainant because he had yet to submit a written statement, despite the alleged rescue of victims, arrest of suspects and recovery of weapons, stolen phones and other electronic devices.

He also alleged that some stolen phones had been electronically traced to the Governor’s Lodge but claimed that the police officers denied knowledge of the development.

The activist further alleged that the management of Tawakalitu Restaurant confirmed that the CCTV equipment had been returned by a DPO, but the recordings had been erased. He said the management declined to identify the officer who returned the equipment.

Describing the development as an alleged coordinated cover-up, Sowore called for an independent investigation into the incident and demanded the removal of the state Commissioner of Police and other officers he accused of being involved.

He maintained that the newly released footage could provide important leads in identifying those involved in the attack.
