‘STAY AND FIGHT FOR YOUR BELIEFS’ – SAMBO’S MESSAGE TO PETER OBI

Arise News Political Editor, Sumner Sambo, has advised Peter Obi to remain in the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and confront the challenges facing the party rather than consider leaving.
Sambo made the remarks on Monday during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show, following a Federal High Court ruling in Lokoja, Kogi State, which nullified its earlier judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC as a political party.
Questioning the recurring difficulties Obi has faced in various political platforms, Sambo suggested that forces opposed to the former Anambra State governor often move to destabilise parties he joins.
“Why is it that anytime Peter Obi joins a party, there appears to be an effort to create problems within that party or prevent it from effectively competing in elections?” he asked.
He urged Obi to remain in the NDC and fight for its survival and recognition rather than seek another political platform.
According to Sambo, if Obi faced similar challenges in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), there is no guarantee that moving to another party would shield him from further opposition.
“It is already too late to start looking elsewhere. He should stay in the NDC, demonstrate his political strength, and fight through the challenges until he emerges victorious,” Sambo said.
