The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled 10-hour power outage at its Ondo 132/33kV Transmission Substation to facilitate critical upgrade works aimed at improving electricity supply.

The outage, scheduled for Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah.

According to the statement, the planned outage will enable TCN engineers to transfer the Ife-Ondo 132kV transmission line from the proposed Omotosho-Ondo 132kV line bay to the Ife-Ondo 132kV line bay.

Mbah said the exercise would also involve the inauguration of a newly installed 60 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) 132/33kV power transformer at the substation.

She explained that the maintenance work would temporarily prevent the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) from receiving power supply from the transmission station.

“As a result, BEDC will be unable to off-take electricity for distribution to customers in Okitipupa and Ondo Town during the 10-hour outage,” the statement said.

TCN apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience and appealed for their understanding as the upgrade is expected to enhance the reliability of power supply upon completion.
