President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has restated his administration’s resolve to eliminate terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes, insisting that Nigeria will not bow to those undermining national peace and security.
The President’s position was conveyed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, during a National Inter-Denominational Church Service held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja on Sunday, as part of activities marking the 2026 Democracy Day celebrations.
Speaking on behalf of the President, Akume said the Federal Government remains committed to strengthening nationwide security operations while intensifying efforts to secure the release of citizens held by criminal groups. He noted that recent attacks and abductions highlight the need for sustained and coordinated action by security agencies.
According to him, “The government of Nigeria shall never succumb to terror, banditry or any form of criminal intimidation,” adding that safeguarding lives and property remains a central priority of the administration.
Tinubu also acknowledged the economic difficulties currently facing Nigerians, assuring that government is working to reduce hardship while improving the delivery of democratic dividends across the country.
He further stated that the administration is fully aware of concerns relating to insecurity, inflation, and displacement in parts of the nation, and is responding with renewed urgency and policy action.
